McDonald's Chicken Sandwitch Free with Drink Purchase
Wednesday August 20, 2008
I like chicken and I like free, so I had to jump on this offer. McDonald's is running a promotion with an
online coupon for a free Southern Style Chicken biscuit or sandwich when you buy a medium or large drink. You need to click on the "get a free offer" link to get to the form. The site is Flash based and you will need a recent version of Adobe Flash installed to use the site.
You also need a color printer. They state that black and white coupons will not be accepted. I assume the reason is to make it harder to copy the coupons. The coupons are only good through September 1, 2008. Be careful when entering your birthdate. If you forget to change the year like I did it will not let you print the coupon because you are not old enough. An easy workaround, if you make that mistake, is to use an alternate browser.
Free Software Makes Filling out Flash Forms Easy
Tuesday August 19, 2008
There are two things that freebie lovers and sweepstakes fanatics have in common. They both fill out a lot of forms and they both get tired of filling out forms from time to time. Our Contests and Sweepstakes Guide
reviews Texter, a free tool that fills in Flash forms as well as standard HTML forms.
Many of us hate Flash forms because our usual automatic form filling tricks don't work. Unfortunately, more and more companies are using Flash for everything on their site. I'm going to give Texter a try.
Apple and Peanut Butter Flavor Snausages Sample
Monday August 18, 2008
Apple and peanut butter treats sound good enough for me to eat, but I think I'll resist the temptation and just give them to my friend's dog.
Del Monte Foods is offering a free sample of apple and Peanut butter flavor Snausages to the first 50,000 to register and fill out their short survey. The first 50,000 get a coupon for a sample and everyone gets a $1 off coupon as long as the promotion runs.
Free Crayola Dry-Erase Marker For Teachers
Sunday August 17, 2008
I remember back in the good old days when we had chalk boards in school and you would hear the comforting click click click as the chalk would make contact with the board while the teacher wrote. Chalk boards are not exactly a thing of the past, but many have been replaced with white boards and dry-erase markers. Dry-erase markers are nice and colorful and don't create a cloud of chalk dust, However, I bet nobody ever got high sniffing chalk!
Teachers can request a free Crayola Dry-Erase marker from Corporate Express. They claim they are low odor and don't squeak when you write. Of course the squeaking of the older style markers was nothing compared to the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard.

Will Planning Kit
Friday August 15, 2008
Whether we want to think about it or not, we all will be departing this life someday. And no matter whether we are wealthy, poor or somewhere in between, there will be matters that will need to be settled after our death. We should leave clear instructions for handling those matters, not just so our wishes are carried out, but also to reduce the burden on those who will be left to deal with our affairs.
So, to address those needs, you may want to request a free will kit from the American Heart Association.
You can learn more about wills from our Wills and Estate Planning Guide, Julie Garber.

Way back in the dark ages when I was in college I couldn't believe how much they charged for college textbooks. It is even worse now. The publishers will tell you that they have to charge that much because it is a low volume business. However, if that is true, why does it cost just as much for a 101 course text that tens of thousands of students use as it does for a graduate text that only a few hundred students use?
Erin has found a way that you can save some major cash on textbooks. Find out how to save money by renting college textbooks.
Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal Sample
Wednesday August 13, 2008
I've tried a number of high fiber cereals and I think most of them taste like cardboard or sawdust. The first time I tried Fiber one cereal it tasted so good I forgot how much fiber it had and I ate three servings. I bet you can guess that I never did that again. At least now I know what to do if I ever feel a little constipated.
If you want to try Fiber One for yourself you can request a free sample of their Honey Clusters cereal, a snack bar, and a coupon booklet. I'm sure the cereal sample is a single serving, so you don't need to worry about repeating my mistake.

I am a scientist by training, a cheapskate by nature, and a meat lover by choice. Imagine how happy I was to find that Laura Dolson, our Low Carb Diets Guide, has been applying the scientific method to finding out how to make the least expensive cuts of meat taste great.
You can read about Erin's experiments and resluts in her article on making cheap steak taste good.
