Free Sudoku Puzzles

By Lee Seats, About.com

What is Sudoku?: Sudoku is a very popular number puzzle game. The rules are simple and the games can range from very easy to very hard. The Sudoku puzzle is a 9x9 grid that starts with some numbers filled in. The object is to fill in the entire grid such that the numbers 1 through 9 appear uniquely in each row, column, and 3x3 block. It sounds complicated until you give it a try but the rules are simple to understand once you have played one Sudoku puzzle.
How do I get it?: Visit Web Sudoku. You can play online or print the puzzles to play on paper. This Sudoku game offers four levels of difficulty. Once you choose a level you can generate a new puzzle by just refreshing the page. There are a number of Sudoku sites on the Web, but I particularly like this one because it is cleanly done and you can generate as many free Sudoku puzzles as you like. These are single solution puzzles that can all be solved with logic.
Who can play?: This version of Sudoku is written with a JavaScript interface and will run in any modern browser. Since you can print any of the puzzles, you can play offline as well as on the Web.
Who provides the game?: The site is provided by Gideon Greenspan and Rachel Lee.
What are the risks in this site?: The Web Sudoku site is a very simple and clean website. Your only risk is possibly spending many hours solving these addicting puzzles when you should be doing something else.
Where else can I get free Sudoku puzzles?: Dave, the Guide to Puzzles on About has a great set of printable Sudoku puzzles that are listed by difficulty. The great thing about Dave's puzzles is that there are four per page when you print them. With four puzzles per page you use a lot less paper to feed your Sudoku puzzle addiction.
What if I want to buy Sudoku books?: You can purchase Sudoku puzzle books for more convenient puzzling or to give as gifts.
