Free Tea Bag?

By Lee Seats, About.com

Offer Description: I investigate dozens of free offers every day to pick one very select offer that I feel is legitimate and worth the time of those interested. I find lots of offers that are not worth listing, but once in a while I find one that is not only not worth listing, it is worth warning free stuff lovers about. The "Free Tea Bag" is one of those. I decided to use the details of this offer to help fellow free stuff buffs know what kinds of offers to avoid.
How to get the free offer: I am providing a link to the site so that you can see what I'm talking about, but I would encourage you to not request the offer for this one. alleged free tea bag offer.
But it is a brand name sample!: Yes, the site uses Lipton, AZO, and Bigelow logos and brand names but if you examine the site carefully you will find there are no links to sites for those brands and there is even a statement that there is no affiliation with those brands whatsoever.
But they have a privacy policy!: Yes they do have a privacy policy and lengthy terms and conditions, but just having these documents online does not make them legitimate.
Who is making the offer?: That is a good question. The offers are not authorized by the companies whose brands they claim to be offering. The site does not provide a physical address or any real information other than the domain name of consumerreviewz.com. Their only email contact information is a free Gmail account. This lack of information is typical of scam sites or sites run by people who do not have a legitimate business.
What is the likelihood the offer will arrive?: It is possible that your free tea bag will arrive if you actually fill out the information and request it, but I have doubts that it will.
What are the risks in requesting the offer?: In my opinion your risks of getting excess spam and other unsolicited advertising greatly outweighs the benefits of getting a free tea bag. There are plenty of other free offers from real companies that you can request.
