What would happen if you took two great classic games and merged them? You might end up with something like Pacxon with the graphics, sounds, and characters of Pacman and the game play of Qix.
Fun:
This little game is far from perfect, but it is just plain fun none-the-less. I don't know if it's the idea of our friend Pacman being free of those awful mazes, or if it is because it brings more to Qix than those nondescript lines and sparks. In any case, this combination of Pacman and Qix is an example of the whole being more than the sum of its parts.
Frustrating:
I'm beginning to think that any fun game requires a certain element of frustration to keep it interesting. Pacxon is no exception to that rule. Sometimes you will find yourself losing three lives in a row just because the game restarts with a ghost right in front of you. And just wait until you gobble the cherries power-up and run right into a ghost before you can make good use of the speed to make progress in the level.
Addicting:
It may be the nostalgic elements of the game, but it is probably really the combination of fun and frustration that makes this game so addicting. Every time you screw up you just know you can do better the next time. Most online Flash games don't hold my interest for long, but games like Pacxon have an addicting quality that keeps me playing over and over again. Fortunately, I did tear myself away long enough to write about the game so you too can feel the
Pacxon addiction. Come on, you know you want to try it.
